At the 2017 Munich High End Show, SGR Audio officially launched a new range of loudspeakers known as the Discovery Series. Designed to be more financially accessible than SGR’s well-known active sealed-box loudspeakers, the Discovery Series uses more traditional passive crossover networks and ported cabinets. However, like all things SGR Audio, these are no ordinary passive bass reflex designs. They are fully optimised! From the sculptural CNC-machined waveguide which perfectly time-aligns the tweeter and midrange drivers, to the custom designed and built drivers and diffraction-limited front baffle.
The range comprises three models; the two-way DS2, available in both standmount and floorstand variants, the 2.5-way floor standing DS3, and the three-way floor standing DS4. As with all SGR Audio loudspeakers, any custom finish you can imagine is available and attracts a surcharge on top of the regular retail price.
We are pleased to report the team from SoundStage! Global were particularly taken with the Discovery Series loudspeakers and have agreed to review a pair in a future issue of their online publication. Edgar Kramer will also be conducting a review for the newly launched SoundStage! Australia.
